Construction-debris disposal in Texarkana

Construction and remodeling waste follows different rules from ordinary household trash. Separate reusable material, scrap metal, clean wood, and dense debris before choosing a disposal service.

Choose the option by material

Reusable building material

Ask the Habitat Texarkana ReStore whether it can use clean cabinets, fixtures, doors, lumber, or other building material before removing it. Send photos and dimensions. Take the material to the ReStore only after staff confirms it will accept each item.

Scrap metal

Separate steel, aluminum, copper, brass, wire, water heaters, and other metal that a recycler will accept. Use our scrap-metal recycling page for local facilities and preparation rules.

Clean untreated wood

The Texarkana Water Utilities Composting Center accepts clean, untreated lumber and pallets. It excludes painted lumber, plywood, presswood, railroad ties, wood from demolished structures, and mixed debris.

Concrete, brick, shingles, drywall, and mixed debris

Call the receiving landfill, dumpster company, or hauling service with the exact material and estimated amount. Dense material can reach a weight limit before a container is full. Ask whether concrete, brick, asphalt, roofing, soil, and drywall must be separated.

Self-haul to the New Boston Landfill

The New Boston Landfill is at 1030 U.S. Highway 82 West in New Boston. Published hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 to 11:30 a.m. Call 903-628-6595 before travel.

Construction and remodeling debris does not qualify for the free household-waste benefit offered to eligible Texarkana, Texas residents. The landfill charges these loads by weight. Ask for the current minimum charge, per-ton rate, accepted payment, load-cover rule, and material restrictions.

Rent a dumpster or hire a hauling crew

Use our dumpster-rental page for details when the project produces waste over several days and the delivery truck has safe access. Use our junk-removal page for details when the debris is ready and you need labor to carry and load it.

Give each company the same written material list and photos. Confirm the container size, included days, included weight, overage rate, delivery and pickup charges, prohibited materials, and the cost of a rejected or overweight load before ordering.

Check hazardous material before demolition

Suspected asbestos

Older floor tile, siding, roofing, insulation, texture, and other products may contain asbestos. Do not break or remove suspect material until you know which rules apply. The Texas Department of State Health Services explains survey, renovation, and demolition requirements. For an Arkansas project, use the asbestos FAQs from the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality for state renovation and demolition requirements.

Lead-based paint

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says work in a pre-1978 home can create dangerous lead dust. Contain dust and debris, seal renovation waste before moving it, and ask the receiving facility how it accepts the material.

Chemicals and pressurized containers

Keep paint, solvent, fuel, pesticides, propane cylinders, batteries, and unknown liquids out of a construction load. Use our household hazardous-waste page for local contacts and confirmed drop-off options.

Check first: Do not assume a contractor's debris can use a resident collection benefit. Tell the city, landfill, or hauler who produced the waste and where the work occurred.
