You can take loose tires to a collection site

Miller County residents: Richardson Waste

The Texarkana recycling guide directs Miller County residents to Richardson Waste, also called the Miller County Transfer Station, at 2934 Miller County Road 10 in Fouke. The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality lists the facility as active. The local guide limits residents to four tires per month and warns that space is limited. Call 870-779-1429 before traveling to confirm space, hours, proof of residency, and whether tires may remain on their rims.

Arkansas fees by tire type

Current Arkansas rules waive the fee when an individual takes four or fewer automobile tires to a waste-tire collection center. For non-fee-paid or specialty tires, the published state fees are $1 for a car or small four-wheeler tire, $5 for a truck tire, $15 for a front farm tire, and $50 for a rear farm, skidder, or other large off-road tire. Ask Richardson Waste which category applies and whether it charges any additional handling cost.

Texas residents: Walmart

The Texarkana recycling guide lists the Walmart at 4000 New Boston Road as a used-tire drop-off and gives a price of $2 per tire. Call the Auto Care Center at 903-831-7918 before taking loose tires. Ask whether the $2 price is still current, how many tires it will accept, and whether it accepts tires on rims, truck tires, trailer tires, or equipment tires.

New Boston Landfill: call first

Texas environmental officials say a landfill may accept household tires but will usually charge a fee. The City of Texarkana does not identify tires as part of its free resident disposal benefit. Call the New Boston Landfill at 903-628-6595 and ask whether it currently accepts the number and type of tires you have, whether rims must be removed, and what it charges.

You need the tires picked up

LoadUp

LoadUp offers paid tire pickup in Texarkana through independent local contractors. Its online form gives the price before booking. The company does not guarantee that the tires will be recycled. Enter the number and type of tires in the booking form or text 678-884-4738 before paying.

A large pile needs an authorized transporter

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality advises property owners with many tires to use an authorized scrap-tire transporter. Follow the transporter-list link on the commission's household tire-disposal page and ask the transporter for a written price and the name of the authorized facility that will receive the tires.

Do not use city bulk collection

Texarkana, Texas lists tires among the materials excluded from its monthly bulk-waste collection. Texarkana, Arkansas also excludes tires from Dial-a-Truck. Do not put tires beside a cart or in a municipal bulk pile.

You are replacing tires

Discount Tire

Discount Tire says it recycles the tires it replaces through a licensed third party. Take the vehicle to 4004 Saint Michael Drive. The store is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 903-223-0689 for the current disposal charge and to ask about a tire that is not mounted on the vehicle.

Walmart Auto Care Center

The Texarkana recycling guide lists used-tire disposal at Walmart, 4000 New Boston Road, for $2 per tire. Because that price comes from the city's 2023 guide, call the New Boston Road Auto Care Center at 903-831-7918 to confirm the current charge and whether disposal is limited to tires the store replaces.

Replacing tires in Arkansas

Arkansas charges a $3 rim-removal fee when a retailer replaces an old tire with a new tire and $1 when the replacement is used. A retailer may also charge permitted collection and processing costs. Ask for the complete per-tire charge before authorizing the work.

What to confirm before a drop-off

  • The number of tires the site will accept
  • Passenger, truck, trailer, motorcycle, ATV, tractor, or equipment tire
  • Loose tire or mounted on a rim
  • Proof of Miller County or Texarkana residency
  • Current per-tire charge
  • Whether the site has space that day
Check first: Do not leave tires beside a dumpster, at a closed facility, or on vacant property. Tires retain water, create fire hazards, and require an approved collection option.
